Our Food

The lodge is overseen by owner Sam  Anderson. His partner Jen, steps in as chef and chief vittles organizer,  along with a small staff to take care of all your needs while staying with us.

We like our food fresh and local. We source our meats and fresh produce locally from Vancouver Island. The seafood  is fresh caught and kept in the sea until we are ready to cook for you.

Because we are located in the temperate rain-forest, the growing season allows us to serve local produce throughout the spring, summer and fall.

The rich plant life native to the coastal northwest includes many berry varieties, great for homemade desserts and fresh morning smoothies!

All 5 species of Pacific Salmon abound in the surrounding waters of Nanook. Just us, there isn’t anything like wild Chinook served hot off the grill by our chef!

Additionally, ling Cod, crab and several species of rock fish are routinely found on the menu.

We look forward to sharing our table with you.

The Anderson Family

In 1998, Larry and Sam Anderson started Nanook Lodge having purchased 4 acres of land on on Stuart Island.

The lodge, the docks and the guesthouse buildings were built by Larry, Sam and a host of tradesmen. Literally as the last carpenter went out the back door, the first guests arrived in May of 1998.

Operating continuously since then, 2020 is the lodge’s 23rd year in business. Lodge facilities, kitchen, outbuildings and amenities have been upgraded every year to provide the best wildlife, fishing and now, photographic adventure lodge in the Pacific Northwest.

We are look forward  to hosting you.
