4 Day | 3 Night Tour

Cost:

USD 3,400.00 | CAD 4,500.00 all inclusive

Costs are all inclusive of: accommodation, all meals, snacks, soft drinks, wine, beer, daily boat excursions, daily activities and photographic mentoring sessions.

Our short workshop tour plan includes round trip boat pick up from Campbell River, Vancouver Island, BC.

Not included:

Gratuities for guides and lodge staff;

Airfare/travel from your home to Vancouver Island, Campbell River;

Camera equipment; Travel Insurance (this is highly recommended)

Group Size

6 person minimum + photographer guide.

Beginner, amateur, enthusiast, semi-pro and pro photographers using DSLR or mirrorless cameras.


Tour Leader

Each workshop will have a world renowned photographer to lead your tour, supported by seasoned local guides who are intimate with the area and the wildlife.

Sam Anderson, your boat guide, is a very knowledgable source of local lore, history and knowledge. 

Itinerary


DAY ONE

Travel and Eagle photography Travel to Campbell River, Vancouver Island, pick up location

Mid morning pick up by boat at Campbell River;

Arrive Nanook Lodge Stuart Island around 1pm for lunch;

After lunch - 30 minute presentation on what you can expect to see, and how to photograph bald eagles in flight, and recommended camera settings;

Afternoon - fishing boat excursion to photograph eagles;

Pre-dinner drinks on the deck or in the lodge

DAY TWO - Bears and eagles

Breakfast

After breakfast before leaving for the day 30 minute presentation on what you will see, what to expect, how to photograph the subject of the day, recommended camera settings;

Travel by boats early to Bute Inlet to find black or brown bears on the shoreline - this is dependent on low tide;

Lunch - back to the lodge for lunch and a short break;

Afternoon - fishing boat excursion to photograph eagles;

Pre-dinner drinks on the deck or in the lodge

Dinner After dinner work session - review images, discuss techniques, improvements, solve problems that may have arisen during your day;


DAY Three - All things sea

Breakfast;

After breakfast before leaving for the day 30 minute presentation on what you will see, recommended camera settings;

Morning - Travel by boats follow sightings of whales, dolphins, sea-lions and seals;

Lunch - picnic lunch on boat(s);

Afternoon - continue whale and dolphin search, return to Lodge area for late afternoon bald eagle shoot;

Pre-dinner drinks on the deck or in the lodge;

Dinner;

After dinner - short 1 hour excursion for eagles at sunset photo shoot.


DAY FOUR - Short photography session and travel day

Breakfast ;

Morning photography of available wildlife close to lodge;

Early lunch;

1pm - return travel by boat to Campbell River.


Recommended equipment

Camera Body;

Lenses: 70mm-200mm Zoom and 500mm Prime lens; 

Monopod (Gitzo has a good travel one) & Gimbal (like the Wimberley MH-100), 

Spare batteries, lens cleaners & memory cards. (Assume 400 photos per day) laptop, all charging cables, rain proof & warm clothing, hats, gloves, sunscreen. 



Cancellation Policy:

The deposit of 50% is non- refundable must be paid on confirmation of booking which will be provided once the minimum number of participants has been reached.

Balance will be due 60 days prior to travel. From 2 months up to the departure of the tour, no refund can be made. For this reason we suggest you to get a cancellation insurance.

Allowances will be made for any disruptions to travel due to Covid 19.
